Achiever Spotlight: Samuel

Our monthly Achiever Spotlight highlights current and alumni Achievers. For current Achievers, we look at how the Friends-Boston program is impacting them today. For alumni, we see the role the program played in helping them to find success after they graduated. Their stories are part of our story, and we're excited to share them.

This month, we're highlighting a current Achiever: Samuel*.

We are excited to introduce you to a remarkable young Achiever: Samuel who was recently awarded October’s Achiever of the Month for his dedication and growth in managing his emotions.

Since joining the program, Samuel has shown remarkable improvement in understanding and expressing his feelings, a goal he’s been working on as part of his personal roadmap.

With support from his Friend (Mentor) Isaac, Samuel has learned to use tools like deep breathing to help him regulate his emotions and navigate challenges. This progress has not only earned him recognition but has also boosted his confidence and enthusiasm to keep moving forward.

Samuel's natural warmth and friendliness make him a joy to be around. He’s always ready to share a story from his favorite video games and enjoys making others smile. He took pride in his award and was thrilled to receive a celebratory batch of cookies – a sweet reminder of his achievements!

Samuel's Friend (Mentor), Isaac has played a crucial role in his journey. Through regular check-ins, Samuel is encouraged to share his feelings about each outing and speak openly about his experiences. These end-of-day conversations have helped build a trusting relationship, providing Samuel with a safe space to express himself honestly.

When talking about Samuel, Isaac shared, “Samuel’s willingness to communicate openly is inspiring. His efforts in managing his emotions and the joy he brings to our time together make him a wonderful part of the Friends-Boston family. Watching him grow has been truly rewarding.”

We can’t wait to see how Samuel continues to learn, grow, and inspire those around him. Wherever he goes, we know he’ll accomplish amazing things!
