Achiever Spotlight: Emily

Each month, we celebrate an Achiever who is growing, learning, and stepping into their confidence. This month, we’re proud to highlight Emily, a bright and determined student who is taking charge of her future with courage and persistence.

At just 12 years old, Emily has been part of the Friends-Boston family for six years, and her dedication to learning and personal growth is inspiring. Lately, she’s been making big strides—asking for help in school, staying after for tutoring, and staying on top of her homework. She’s learning that speaking up for herself isn’t just important—it’s a skill that will help her succeed.

One of the biggest ways Emily has grown is in how she expresses herself. She’s learning to use “I” statements to share her feelings, communicate her needs, and navigate challenges with her peers. She’s also discovered that asking for help is not a weakness—it’s a sign of trust in those who support her, including her Friend (mentor), Elizabeth.

What makes Emily special is her willingness to grow. She’s not afraid to put in the effort, whether that means tackling a tough math assignment or working on handling conflicts with patience and grace. Her mentor, Elizabeth, has watched her push through frustration and keep going, even when things feel tough.

Emily’s journey is a reminder that confidence comes from showing up, trying your best, and believing in yourself. We’re so proud of her and can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next!
