20 Years, 20 Friends: Wellington Management Foundation

This year's Friend Raiser wasn't just a celebration of Hopes and Dreams, but it also began the countdown to our 20th anniversary in 2024.

As we prepare to celebrate the many milestones achieved and lives impacted, we also wanted to honor some of the fantastic organizations and individuals who have made our work possible.

We're going to highlight one organization or individual each month for the next 20 months as we countdown to the celebration -20 Years, 20 Friends.

We highlighted the first of our 20 Friends during this year's Friend Raiser with our inaugural The Power of One Award - the Wellington Management Foundation. They've supported Friends-Boston since the beginning, and we're grateful for their commitment to our mission and our Achievers.

With ongoing philanthropic investment and employee volunteerism, Wellington Management Foundation has been instrumental in our success over the last almost two decades. The yearly tradition of college and career day - when a team of their employees visit with our Achievers to help them write their first resume and land their first job - is a favorite among our teens.

When the pandemic hit, they were among the first to reach out to offer unwavering support to our Achievers and their families, including volunteering to sew masks and pack care packages. They continue to prove that effective philanthropy is a partnership.

When we approached the Wellington Management Foundation about supporting our ambitious five-year growth plan, we were met with enthusiastic support. Their second catalytic investment of $300,000 in Friends-Boston this year helped us fully transition to our 2Gen model, amplifying the goals and ambitions of caregivers, youth, and entire families - this investment helped triple our impact - proving that the power of one to be a catalytic agent for change.
