20 Years, 20 Friends: Massachusetts Convention Center Authority and Signature Boston

Our 7th highlight in our 20 Years, 20 Friends series – all leading up to our 20th anniversary in 2024 – a group that’s partnered with us year after year to provide Thanksgiving dinners to our Achievers and their families.

Congratulations to the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority and Signature Boston for being #7 in our 20 Years, 20 Friends countdown!

Thanksgiving is viewed as a time of plenty, but it can also be one of difficulty for families who are struggling with food insecurity. According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, 2023 will have the second most expensive Thanksgiving meal in their survey’s 38-year history. Over the years, we’ve worked to change that situation for our Achievers and their families thanks to our friends at the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) and Signature Boston.

Since 2010, MCCA and Signature Boston have been providing full turkey dinners – a frozen turkey, fresh veggies, sides, and desserts – for our Achiever families to enjoy. Their long-term generosity has made a big impact, especially during the pandemic. During that difficult time when their operations were temporarily shuttered, the MCCA and Signature Boston continued to provide turkey dinners for our families. In 2023, they provided 145 dinners.

“The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority’s partnership with the Friends of the Children-Boston is not only among our longest, but also most cherished,” said David Gibbons, Executive Director of MCCA. “We are proud to continue to offer our support and admiration of the incredible work being done to make a real positive difference in the lives of families and children seeking to overcome poverty and trauma. Congratulations on twenty years of incredible service and on behalf of all your friends at the MCCA – thank you!”

The MCCA owns and oversees the operations of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA, the Boston Common Parking Garage, The Lawn On D Powered by Citizens. The MCCA's mission is to generate significant regional economic activity by attracting conventions, tradeshows, and other events to its world-class facilities while maximizing the investment return for the residents and businesses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

We’re grateful to the MCCA and Signature Boston for their commitment to our Achievers and their families. If you’d like to learn more about their events and services, please click here.
