Achiever Spotlight: Juli

Our monthly Achiever Spotlight highlights current and alumni Achievers. For current Achievers, we look at how the Friends-Boston program is impacting them today. For alumni, we see the role the program played in helping them to find success after they graduated. Their stories are part of our story, and we're excited to share them.

This month, we’re celebrating Juli*, a determined and inspiring seventh grader who has been part of our program since 2018!

Juli has been working hard on something truly special—navigating friendships and peer challenges with confidence, respect, and maturity. In middle school, that’s no easy task! But over the past year, she has embraced self-advocacy and healthy communication, setting clear boundaries and choosing positive relationships. Instead of getting caught up in school drama, she now focuses on open conversations, making sure her voice is heard in a way that fosters understanding.

Her growth hasn’t gone unnoticed! Her principal and dean recently recognized her for her impressive shift in handling conflict, and we couldn’t be prouder of how she has stepped into this leadership role.

Beyond her personal growth, Juli is also chasing big academic and athletic goals. She’s determined to earn a B or higher in math and has been putting in extra effort—studying, reviewing quizzes, and even staying after school to sharpen her skills. She’s also setting her sights on the track team, training to improve her speed and endurance.

One of the things that makes Juli truly stand out is her ability to stand up for herself and others. She’s a natural leader, always ready to speak up when something isn’t right and to offer kindness when someone needs it. She approaches challenges with resilience, optimism, and a belief that every setback is an opportunity to grow.

Her Friend (Mentor), Maricela, shared:

“Juli has grown into such a strong, thoughtful, and determined young person. She’s making choices that align with her goals and values, and it’s been incredible to see her step into her confidence. She’s a joy to be around, and I know she’s going to do amazing things!”

Juli’s journey is just beginning, and we can’t wait to see all that she will accomplish. Keep going, Juli—we are cheering you on!
