Arlene Amaya

Youth Advocate (Friend) - Elementary Cohort (East Boston)

Arlene Amaya is a recent graduate from the University of Illinois Chicago and received a BA from the College of Education in Human Development and Learning with two minors in Public Policy and Law and Society. She grew up in Chicago and has worked with youth across the Chicagoland area for 5 years. Through her undergraduate degree, she worked as an intern for the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights conducting research on undocumented immigrants and accessibility to healthcare through existing healthcare policy. She has also worked in schools and communities across the world as an intern for HOPEworldwide where she was able to coordinate and plan service trips. Arlene has a passion for advocacy and strongly believes in the mission of Friends of the Children. She looks forward to building relationships and connections with families and communities across Boston.
